Meet your photographer!
My name is Amy! I am currently 27 years old, I was born in raised in Bezanson, and have been in the surrounding area my whole life! After high school I took a year off, and then went back to school where I obtained my Diploma as a Licensed Practical Nurse. After I graduated college I worked for a few months, and then I took off by myself to travel in South East Asia for 7 weeks. I then worked for 3.5 years in Valleyview, working between acute care and long term care, and occasionally in the ER. I also did a brief period on Paediatrics in Grande Prairie. I love love love to travel, the 2 months I spent abroad was some of my favorite memories I have in my life!
In July of 2019 I rekindled my relationship with my ex high school sweetheart, and we haven't looked back since. In October of 2019 I left my career in Nursing to focus on my mental health. I was diagnosed with OCD and Anxiety disorder, and even though it was one of the hardest decisions I have had to make, I am very thankful that I took a step away when I did (c*vid would have really messed with me if I was still in that environment when my mental health was at its lowest). I then worked as a maintenance administrative assistant for a rental company, briefly worked as a manager for a cleaning company, and then shortly after my fiancé and I got engaged, and began to expand our family! We bought our first house in June of 2021, and welcomed our amazing son, Bowden, in August.
After we had our son, my fiancé and I had discussed how for our family it would work better if I was a stay at home mom. I had picked up my camera when we had our son, and taken a few newborn pictures. It wasn't until he was about 4 months old that I realized that I needed something to do, a way to get out of the house and feel like I had a purpose besides being "just a mom" (ps, hardest job I have ever had lol). Ever since junior high I had loved taking pictures, and was pretty good at it. In highschool I took a photography course, but once I started nursing school I put down my camera and stopped taking pictures. I knew I loved photography, and I wanted the flexibility of making my own schedule, and doing something that I loved again. I loved nursing, and I needed to do something that I was passionate about again. I then bought a new camera (Nikon D3500), and started taking on clients for free to help build my portfolio. I started posting on my Facebook page that I created in like, 2012. Slowly I built my portfolio, then I started taking on my first paid clients, and since then things have absolutely sky rocketed for me.
I have spent countless hours continuing my education for photography. I invested in 2 new cameras (Nikon D750 and then shortly after the Nikon Z6ii), I researched lenses and expanded my lenses (35mm, 50mm, and 85mm prime lenses), I attended a workshop hosted by the AMAZING Cecile with C'Zen Photography. I also did a 1-1 mentorship with Cecile. I watched countless YouTube videos on lighting, composition, settings for my new cameras, editing in Lightroom and photoshop, I invested in courses hosted by Creative Live and Kelly Brown, and attended the online Milky Way Retreat. I will be forever learning, I want to be able to provide the absolute best experience, as well as beautiful images for my clients.
It has been a year since I picked back up my camera. I have done over 110 sessions. I have hosted 4 minis, had several repeat clients, captured love between a newly engaged couple, taken maternity pictures and then a few short weeks later met the newest, most adorable clients.
Now, I am currently expanding my portfolio to include posed newborn portraits. I am capturing my second wedding this summer, and currently booking 2024 weddings. I have been focusing more on education during the slow months, and am quickly booking up into May. I am loving every minute of my new career, and I am so glad that I took the leap and invested in myself and my business, and am doing something that I love again!
